Life at Allison House is designed to provide a safe, structured and welcoming home environment where students feel supported, cared for and connected.

We understand that for many students, living away from home is a new experience. Our team ensures each young person feels comfortable, included and supported as they settle into daily life.

Who We Support

Allison House accommodates secondary students aged 12–18 who live in remote and isolated areas across Far West NSW.

Students attend one of Broken Hill’s public high schools while living in a supervised and supportive boarding environment.

A Safe and Supportive Home

Dedicated live-in House Parents provide 24/7 supervision and care, creating a structured and nurturing environment where students feel secure and supported.

Students are guided in developing independence, responsibility and life skills while enjoying the comfort and routine of a stable home setting.

Our team also assists with:

✔ maintaining routines and structure
✔ creating an inclusive and respectful environment

Meals, Cleaning & Daily Living

Students enjoy a comfortable home environment with support for everyday living, including:

  • nutritious meals and food preparation

  • laundry services

  • assistance with maintaining clean living spaces

  • shared responsibilities that encourage independence

School Transport & Activities

Allison House provides transport to and from school each day.

Students are also supported in participating in extracurricular activities, sport and part-time work opportunities.

Over the years, students have participated in:

  • Australian Rules football

  • netball, soccer and basketball

  • after-school employment

  • community and sporting commitments

Weekend stays are available for students involved in sport, work or community activities.

Wellbeing & Pastoral Care

Student wellbeing is central to life at Allison House.

Each week, RFDS Child and Family Mental Health and Wellbeing workers visit the House to provide group activities and support focused on social and emotional wellbeing. Students are welcome to participate and can access support whenever needed.
